The BTS Skytrain is a safe, comfortable and convenient way to get around Bangkok. In service since 1999 and it has transformed the face of public transportation in the Thai capital, for the first time offering both residents and visitors a comfortable ride through central Bangkok - lifting commuters above the chronic congestion, noise and pollution of the streets below. Currently there are two routes, the Sukhumvit Line and the Silom Line. They cover much of the central city and its many commercial, residential and tourist areas, with extensions planned to outlying areas. The trains run daily between 6:00 am and 12:00 midnight with frequent service throughout the day, increased during rush hours. The fare is based on the distance traveled.
Restaurants are found all over Bangkok. The main areas for dining are the Sukhumvit area, the Silom area, China town and Khao San road. In all these areas there are many food stands on the streets where you can get a quick Thai fix. Restaurants from all over the world are to be found in these areas.

The newest and fastest way from Suvarnabuhmi to the city centre is the new Airport Rail Link. It recently opened in August 2010. The elevated train brings you straight from the airport to the Makkasan MRT station or the Phaya Thai BTS station.
A fast and fun way to travel is the Chao Praya Express boat. The boat goes from the central pier which is located at the Saphan Taksin BTS station up the river in the northern direction. If you take the boat up to pier number 8 you’ll be at wat Po, the temple with the famous reclining Budha, here you can also cross the river and go to wat Arun. Pier number 9 is the exit for the royal palace. You can buy a ticket on shore, but that is more expensive then on the boat. Just wait for the boat to arrive and hop on. There are 4 different boats, they have a different flag on top. The flag depend on the kind off service (fast express) and the different piers they stop. Most boats are with no flag and the prices on these boats are 9, 11 or 13 baht, depending the distance. The orange flag boats cost 14 baht, the green flag boat 12, 19 or 31 depends on the distance and the yellow flag boat 19 or 28 baht, depending the distance.
